QUIZ RESULTS: I’M A “FIRE” — SO WHAT?

Your DOMINANT temperament is a FIRE! As you have learned from your quiz by now, FIREs are one of the four Basic Elements of Temperament (a practical model for self-awareness and for understanding the behaviors we see around us every day).

Fires see facts and figures (much like Earths) but want to manipulate, collect more, and play with them to find unique ways of solving problems—and have a good time while doing so. It’s how they view the world! Fires are practical and creative troubleshooters, often with a great sense of humor. No matter the task or problem, large or small, Fires rapidly assess what’s needed and take immediate short-term action. You often find Fires serving as first responders.

Methods, strategies, and approaches used by Fires are not necessarily traditional or prescribed. They will use a variety of problem-solving techniques in order to generate a rapid solution. If they fail, they will try something else.  Mistakes or errors are never repeated. Fires do not like to be told what to do or how to do something. They enjoy the freedom to be creative and innovative. Sometimes this results in conflict with managerial hierarchies who believe policies and procedures should be followed without question.

Fires enjoy challenges—whether work-related or personal. For example, it is not surprising for a Fire to jump into the middle of an argument between family members or co-workers, without knowing anything substantive about the issue! They just enjoy the action, the adrenalin-filled excitement that comes during the heat of battle!

The ideal world of the DOMINANT FIRE includes a variety of experiences, tasks, and duties that challenge their creativity and results in fun and excitement. It also includes opportunities to work with many different people on meaningful short-term projects. A typical Fire goal is to experience as many different projects and adventures as possible with as many interesting people as possible—in the shortest amount of time possible. Fires live in the present and are often skeptical of authority and authority figures. Fires are sometimes perceived as not taking their life, or their work, as seriously as they should.
